Mountains and Monsoon in Laos
A land of dense-jungle-covered-crazy carst formations, water buffalo wandering through town, net fishermen silently working on pristine lakes, and trucks packed to the rim with passengers, ckickens, and other knick nacks. I went there speaking about 6 words in Lao, and in Mahaxai there was virtually no English spoken, yet I still got invited to a graduation party, was given numerous meals and more moonshine than I could politely turn away (I had to time my outings so that I would'nt spent the whole time drunk!). The Lao people are wonderfully inviting and generous. And you might me surprised to know that I even tried slurping a dish of snails (picture at bottom) and they were absolutely delectable!
